What You Can Catch

-
Offshore: wahoo, mahi-mahi, yellowfin/blackfin tuna, kingfish, sailfish, and blue/white marlin. The deep water drops off remarkably close to St. Croix, so you don't necessarily have a long run to reach offshore grounds.

-
Inshore: tarpon, bonefish, permit, snook, mutton snapper, jacks, barracuda and mackerel. St. Croix has a particularly strong tarpon fishery, with fish commonly running 20–40 lb and larger fish possible.

-
Shore fishing: You can fish from shore in permitted areas, with species including jacks, grunts, snapper and other reef fish. Regulations vary considerably around protected areas.
